Energy Efficiency Division

The Energy Efficiency Unit supports CCREEE’s strategic programme, and ensures the enhancement of energy efficiency in all aspects of the CCREEE’s work. These areas include the Sustainable Buildings Programme, the Sustainable Industry and Business Programme and the Sustainable Transport Programme with relevant flagship projects.

The Sustainable Industry and Business Programme aims to enhance energy and resource efficiency and, support the deployment of renewable energy systems and more sustainable practices in the commercial and industrial sectors, including tourism while the Sustainable Buildings Programme aims to improve the energy performance of the building sector in the Caribbean. The programme supports the implementation of the CARICOM Regional Energy Efficiency Building Code, enhances the regional knowledge base on energy efficiency measures and renewable energy solutions for buildings, and supports building owners in identifying financing options.

With a particular focus on electric mobility, the Sustainable Transportation Programme aims to support CARICOM Member States in their transition toward a modern, sustainable, efficient, and affordable transportation system. The programme addresses the three main disruptors of transportation, namely electrification, connectivity through digitalisation, and shifting and managing transport demand, to support a stronger integration of the sustainable energy, climate and transportation sectors.

In all three areas, the CCREEE supports this transformation by providing technical assistance, training and capacity building, knowledge products and tools. Flagship projects will be implemented in each area, and synergies with the Project Preparation Facility will support project developers in gaining access to financing.
